Shenandoah Mayor Garry Watts presents the Best in Show trophy to Bob and Yvonne Tooke at The Woodlands Car Club’s annual Fall Evening Car Show at the Portofino Shopping Center.
The Woodlands Car Club raised record dollar amounts in event sponsorships at their recent Fall Car Show held Nov. 1 at the Portofino Shopping Center in Shenandoah.
The car club raised over $9,000 in sponsorships alone for this event, and registration fees for show participants, and raffle and silent auction receipts will add to that amount. Proceeds after expenses will benefit the Woodforest Charitable Foundation, who received $6,000 last year from the car club. To date, the club has donated over $40,000 to local non-profit organizations.
“It is our privilege to support The Woodlands Car Club and their efforts to give back to the community,” said Shenandoah Mayor Garry Watts. “We’re pleased that they chose Shenandoah again as the venue for their annual car show. The event brought people with a common interest together and helped build community spirit.”
Each year The Woodlands Car Club’s car shows attract more participants and grow in popularity in the community as well. About 95 cars were on display at the show this year, and Bob Tooke won the “Best in Show” award for his 1956 Chevy with custom modifications.
The club routinely participates in several small shows and meets, but the Evening Fall Car Show is an annual event that features vintage, exotic and high end collectible cars and attracts an increasing number of visitors, with attendance this year estimated at about 600 people.
Dana Pritchard, The Woodlands Car Club President, emphasized the importance of enjoying the show while benefiting the community at the same time.
“We are so proud of how our show has grown and the support we’ve gotten from Shenandoah and the local businesses. But the important thing is that we’re giving back to the community, and that’s why we’ve chosen the Woodforest Charitable Foundation once again as the beneficiary of our event,” Prichard said.
